Small World and Eating Bird

Last week I went to my neighbor kid’s football game. Through the years, I have gone to various sporting events of the neighbor kid. My neighbor is technically a soccer Mom; she knows all the other soccer Moms and has known them for years. It is like a network of chicks I have never really involved myself with, unless a really hot one is there, I query the status of her. (yes, I am a whore)

As I am sitting with my neighbor she turns to a lady who was sitting behind me and says “Hi”, this was about the 5th Mom she said Hi to…so no biggee. But when the Mom answered back with a “Hi, how’s it going?” it sounded familiar. I turned and there sat a small red haired lady with a small child next to her. I knew this lady, I have not seen her since 1982, but I knew it was her. I stood up and asked her if her name was Kari Smith. (I made that name up) She looked at me funny, (I get that a lot). I surprised her, I guess, knowing her maiden name. I introduced myself and she stood up and gave me a big hug..(I love girl hugs) 1000 miles away from where we last saw each other and here we are at a kid’s football game. We went to school with each other, she was 2 years ahead of me, we were on the cross country and softball team together. Turns out my neighbor has known her for years, and she and I have probably been at the same games and just never noticed each other. That familiar voice she had jerked a memory. I can’t remember shit usually so it was cool to remember a voice and then the red hair. We caught up on things through out the game and promised to keep in touch…, which I have been meaning to do.

Bubby the neighbor cat. This cat is the same cat that came into my house and stole the bacon that was freshly cooked. Here is a picture of him hunting bacon on my counter.

Here is a picture of him eating bird. I took this photo this morning. As if he doesn't get enough food from me, his owner, and whoever else feeds him. I hate seeing things like this..but he wasn't going to give up the bird so I decided on a quick photo.

Bubby has the look of - "this is my bird HUu-man, don't even try to take it away from me." That is very cool that you ran into a high school friend. I don't think I would recognize anyone from my high school if by chance one were to be living in my area. However, like you said...it is a small world.

that's terrific, to meet an old friend..makes your day don't it..?
annie likes to leave dead birds on the seat of my truck for me..which is better than the pillow where my cat rocky liked to leave dead birds..

cats might rule the planet without dogs around to keep an eye on them.

How cool to meet an old friend like that! I'm so glad our boys don't go out to catch birds, but I wish they'd catch some of the basement mice.

Kari Smith ate my bird back in '82. True story.

Hey, he's just doing what cats do. And besides, what do you think people are eating when they eat chicken?? *grin*

Also, it is AWESOME that you were surprisingly reunited with that girl (woman?) so many years later! I love it when life surprises us like that. :)

I love the reunion story! I love it when that happens.

Ugh, your cat is a psycho killer just like Kamir. I found another headless mouse today...blech.

Our cat Gizzy just sits and watches the blue jays eat her food...she's highly evolved like that.

He's thinking, "MMmmm... tastes like chicken!"

There is not a chance I will ever meet someone from my past in Idaho....see, I am a Democrat, Idaho is bloody red.....I was a slut in high school. Women here? Perfect liars.

The kittens are into frogs at the moment. Coming from a feral family, not being allowed out except for the playpen outside the slider, they take what they can get. They do keep a keen eye on the birds and squirrels tho.....

I love it that you have a cat that comes in to visit.

A cat that steals bacon...sounds like a children's book. Though they might cringe at eating the dead bird.

But, at least the cat's keeping in line with the circle of life.

Good for you on rediscovering an old friend. I doubt I would know anyone from the long ago of high school.

As for Mr. Cat. Well, it is what cats do. Here in Massachusetts, cats are no legally considered domesticated animals. If you think about it, they are still predators and only put up with us because we have thumbs and can open cat food for them.

Bubby is SO cat! How fun to see an old friend like that...and someone who didn't make you cringe!

This is my favourite pussy: http://www.prikamsterdam.nl/wp-content/uploads/2007/07/prikkie.jpg

Last week she was strutting her stuff on the bar and I bought her a drink... ;-)

She works in pest control.
