Happy Halloweenie!
I hope everyone has a great weekend. I will post a few photos from a few years ago..they are from the best Halloween party that is held everyyear in West Hollywood. I use to go every year but I am too lazy and it is just overwhelming to see so many beautiful women that all have adams apples.

He Hates Me
Almost every morning I crawl out of bed around 5. I grab a cup of coffee and hop on my beach cruiser to ride to the gym. Under a mile, .82 to be exact, I ride down the dark foggy streets. The last street before I enter on to the college campus I pass 3 Yes On Prop 8 signs. When I first saw them, about 2 weeks ago, I was crushed. My own neighborhood, the street that I walk Homer down every night, the street I ride my bike down to go to the Women’s Volleyball and Basketball games the same street I drive down to go to the beach. The people that live on this street know me. They smile and say “Hi” as I cruise by. There is one guy on this particular street that I thought of as a friend. Three nights out of the week, he would be out watering his lawn and I would stop and chit chat. He knows Homer by name, and rubs his head as Homer wiggles his little butt. He and I always talk about how the college sports were going. He knew I went to every game and he would read the local sports section so we had great little conversations. We never spoke of politics; he never asked me about who I was sleeping with…I never thought once to say…”hey, I am a gay!”
I was crushed when he posted his Yes On Prop 8 sign. How could he? We have such great little conversations, we laugh together…How could he stab me like this? Over the last few weeks, I have gone from being crushed, to pissed off. How can these people have the right to vote on my rights? I am the one that will suffer, if they get their way. They will not suffer in any way. Seeing these signs pisses me off bad. I could careless about the McCain/Palin signs. Once the election is over, I won’t even remember who had those signs. But I will always remember the people with the Yes On 8 signs. They hate me; they hate who I choose to love. They don’t know they hate me, I am just a chick that walks down their street, but I know they hate me. Would it change their minds if they knew who I was? I think their hate runs deep…so deep they don’t mind sticking a sign in their yard expressing their hate. I will no longer speak or acknowledge the people who think they have the right to vote on my rights. I have too much respect in myself…and if they try to say something to me I will explain my position…but I have no need for people like this.

Fun With Sage
What a fabulous fun weekend! Volleyball, pumpkin carving, lesbian halloween golf tournament, more volleyball, and then Sunday..the day of rest for some people. More fun and crazy things.
Let me start out by saying it is weird to see our beloved Misty May in clothes and in a wheelchair. Long Beach Girls Volleyball kicked butt this weekend. Misty showed up for both games, friday they honored the team that won the NCAA championship 10 years ago..so it was nice to see how great all these women look after 10 years...hot...
The 522nd annual Pumpkin Carving gathering was held at my house also. Pumpkin carving really brings out some great talented friends. Here are some pictures for your enjoyment.

The lesbian golf tournament was full of fun and freaks...both things that I love. I actually drank two beers..which is huge for me. It didn't make me play any better golf though...so it might be a while till I have two more beers..Hmm I wonder if my game would have improved if I would have become a heavy drinker? Golfing and drinking..that would be fun. Big ole beer belly Sage the best golfer in town.
Here is Ugly Betty and Dinah Shore

Sarah Palin even took time out of her schedule to swing by.

This chick on the right was funny, she is a One Night Stand..her cart was decorated like a U-haul. You can't see the U-haul sign..but is was hilarious.

Okay that is all for now...I need to rest...watch TV, cuddle with Homer.

Get Your Clap On!
I stole this from one of my friends on Facebook, Wanda Wisdom. I just love this song. Never heard it before..but I love the dancers and the singer.
This song became one of Shirley's biggest hit (#8 in 1965), and she also scored with "The Nitty Gritty" and "The Name Game". The correct title of this song is "The Clapping Song (Clap Pat Clap Slap)".
One of the comments someone left for Wanda cracked me the hell up...
"Oh, this song brings back memories. I remember my doctor singing it to me after an STD test."

Random Things Including Terrariums
No gym this morning, I am so sore from my last few workouts, I decided to take a break today and Blog.
Parents visit went fine, mostly because I bought a peach pie. Pie does make everything better.
SubtleKnife turned me on tho this website they have a bunch of free stencils to carve Obama Pumpkins. Yes, someone in Amsterdam turned me on to an Obama Pumpkin Carving website...isn't the internets wonderful? I got so excited I carved a pumpkin already.

The carved pumpkin will probably be wilted my the end of this week since it is 80F here. The last few weeks seem hotter than summer...maybe not, but it is still short and flip flop weather. I sprayed WD-40 on the pumpkin cuz I read on the internets that preserves it better. Probably some asshole wrote that just to see how many assholes like me would spray their pumpkin. Oh well.
SubtleKnife also told me about David Sedaris coming to town this week. He is a great writer but my schedule is booked this week. David Sedaris is Amy Sedaris' brother. If you go to YouTube you can see a few videos of him when he was on David Letterman. I have a few of his books and they are laugh out loud reading. He is doing an american tour so if he comes to town your should go check him out. He will be here the same night Long Beach Volleyball team has the 10 year anniversary of their championship year. Which means broke achilles Misty May will be there.
I was flippin the channel on the TV the other night and I came across a show on the Martha Stewart channel. It is called "Whatever" anyone who has Sirius Radio might have heard of this show. It is Martha's daughter Alexis and friend Jennifer. The radio show they babble and bitch a lot but in general pretty funny. The TV show is hilarious they watch one of Martha's shows and make fun of her. They say the same things most people say like "who the hell has time to do that shit?" It is really funny. EDIT: GO to the website I linked...there are a few trailers of the show and they are funny...
The show I watched was about terrariums, Martha was making tools to clean your terrarium with. They were making fun of her big time.
I started to think...who has terrariums anymore? They were such a big thing in the 80's..I remember going over to a friend's house and her Mom had one. I never see them anymore. Do you remember when they made a huge terrarium in Nevada and a bunch of scientist lived inside of it..whatever happened to that? All of a sudden terrariums vanished. Anyways that has been on my mind a lot...I am thinking about getting one...just because I think they might come back in style and I want to be on the cutting edge of style.
Blogging and drinking coffee is nice.

No on Prop 8
Going to a No on Prop 8 event tonight..plus a wedding. The Yes on 8 (hate) are really saturating the prime time spots now. We have to donate more money to get some more air time to get the No on Prop 8 ads on the air. We are behind in the polls, it is scary to think the church peeps might win and take our rights away.

Homer Loves Obama
I do not agree with people who put stupid outfits on their dogs...but Homer really wanted to show his support. He insisted I also take pictures and post them on the internets. I also hate it when people make up conversations they have with their dogs...weird isn't it? I actually do it all the time.
In other news, my parents are in SoCal...I have a younger brother who lives in Ventura County..who made babies with his wife. My parents feel the need to come and visit these babies. They have 20 local grandkids..you think they would get enough staying at home. No, my little brother had to have kids. So, of course they just can't play with the grandbrats and go home. They want to visit me and my other brother. So they are coming down Thursday, the same evening I have a" vote no on Prop 8" event, also the same evening at the same event friends of mine are getting married. I explained to my Mom that I have a wedding to go to, she said, "on a Thursday night?" I then explained it was for GAY people. I am sure she is praying for them right now.
We are also not removing our yard signs...My parents will be praying for us for the next year. My brother has been volunteering full time at the South LA Obama campaign office. I think he should take my parents to work with him on Friday. That would be fun...for them. So I hope there won't be much talk about politics, except my brother is pretty gung ho, and a great debater, matched with my Dad who is as right wing as they come and a great debater I have a feeling it might be chaotic. I will need to start drinking I think...that will numb me down for a few days.

Please, Don't Inhale
Sunday was the Long Beach Marathon. Around 18000 people participated in a fun filled morning. I woke up at 4:15 A.M to get ready to meet a friend so we could ride in the annual bike tour of the marathon race. We decided to ride our bikes down to the race so we got about 10 extra miles that day. The bike tour leaves the starting line at 6 a.m. which is not quite the crack of dawn…that happens closer to 630 am. It was so crowded we couldn’t really break away from the crowd till about mile 10. Around Mile 7 we notice the Fundies had littered the course with the Yes On Prop 8..which is the Anti Gay marriage proposition. They did a nice job of putting a ton of signs up. They had put the signs up on public property so people were tearing them out and ripping them in half…I briefly joined in on the fun too. Too many signs for us to handle so I made a few phone calls to the friends who decided to sleep in on Sunday. Soon enough the Lesbian Posse was out in force on the race route ripping the signs out…I continued my ride. They called to tell me the mission was complete and that people were cheering them for pulling the signs up. That made me feel good. When I got home I was greeted with a yard full of the signs…I guess that was payback for waking them up.
The Santa Ana winds are blowing here in SoCal, which means every bit of moisture you have in your body is sucked out. They are fierce hot dry winds. Not fun, we have fires in the area, which is normal for this time of year when we get these winds. The air is crap, I won’t be able to ride my bike until the air clears up. I think riding my bike on Sunday Morning did enough damage. The air is so bad outside my window, visibility is less than a mile. I usually can see the Hollywood sign from my office on a clear day, and that is 33 miles away. So the air is crap…even for people with good lungs. This is horrible to say but the fires bring the prettiest fucking sunsets. I have been to beautiful places that are known for their sunsets…but nothing tops a California fire/smog sunset…they are the most amazing things.

Small World and Eating Bird
Last week I went to my neighbor kid’s football game. Through the years, I have gone to various sporting events of the neighbor kid. My neighbor is technically a soccer Mom; she knows all the other soccer Moms and has known them for years. It is like a network of chicks I have never really involved myself with, unless a really hot one is there, I query the status of her. (yes, I am a whore)
As I am sitting with my neighbor she turns to a lady who was sitting behind me and says “Hi”, this was about the 5th Mom she said Hi to…so no biggee. But when the Mom answered back with a “Hi, how’s it going?” it sounded familiar. I turned and there sat a small red haired lady with a small child next to her. I knew this lady, I have not seen her since 1982, but I knew it was her. I stood up and asked her if her name was Kari Smith. (I made that name up) She looked at me funny, (I get that a lot). I surprised her, I guess, knowing her maiden name. I introduced myself and she stood up and gave me a big hug..(I love girl hugs) 1000 miles away from where we last saw each other and here we are at a kid’s football game. We went to school with each other, she was 2 years ahead of me, we were on the cross country and softball team together. Turns out my neighbor has known her for years, and she and I have probably been at the same games and just never noticed each other. That familiar voice she had jerked a memory. I can’t remember shit usually so it was cool to remember a voice and then the red hair. We caught up on things through out the game and promised to keep in touch…, which I have been meaning to do.
Bubby the neighbor cat. This cat is the same cat that came into my house and stole the bacon that was freshly cooked. Here is a picture of him hunting bacon on my counter.

Here is a picture of him eating bird. I took this photo this morning. As if he doesn't get enough food from me, his owner, and whoever else feeds him. I hate seeing things like this..but he wasn't going to give up the bird so I decided on a quick photo.

Growing Up Republican
I was raised in a small town in the Pacific Northwest. We had about 11,000 people in my town. Technically, it was a city, but more like a town…is there even a difference? Most people in the town were loggers, steam plant workers, or Weyerhaeuser workers. Blue-collar town. My dad had a small business in town. He also was a member of the city council and the Mayor. For a long time the town never had a Mayor eventually they thought a Mayor is what was in fashion so that is when my Dad became Mayor. In a small town a Mayor isn’t a full time job. He went to work during the day and a few nights a week went to city council meetings. Growing up with politics sucked…I was “one of the Mayor’s daughters.” Me wanting to blend in didn’t really work out too well. There were people who loved my Dad and people who hated him. What joy!
One thing I do remember clearly is he never wanted anyone to tell him how to run his business. He was an honest and fair employer though. (Since my sister reads my blog and since she took over his business, she has also remained an honest and fair employer.) As a kid I totally got that. In a small town everyone is given a level playing field. The six of us kids went to Catholic school, until my parents left the church and then we went to public school. So, we got thrown into the same bucket. Same education as the rich kids…(I actually don’t think there were any rich kids) same education as the poor kids.
The poor people in my town lived on the other side of the tracks… really they did…just like the movies. As my Dad used to say, “everyone is given the same opportunity in life…it is what you make of it”. So true in my small town. We all had the same teachers, same classrooms, same buses took us to school, same library. Same view of Mt. St. Helens before she blew her top.
I got what it meant for my parents to be a republican; this was before the evangelical lobbyists got a grip on the party and started pushing the “family values” down everyone’s throat. They didn’t want someone telling them how much they should pay their employees, how to treat them and who to hire. They also felt adamantly that everyone is given the same chance in life, so why should the government help out the poor people. Why should they pay higher taxes just so the people on the other side of the tracks can have a free hand out from the government? They had the same opportunity as everyone else in the town.
All 6 of us kids left town after high school, the oldest went away to college and came right back. She is a republican, the other sister, the one that reads this blog, left for Europe got married and returned 15 years later (I have no idea how many years actually) to take over Dad’s business. She is democrat. Me, I left town, rarely go back, I am a democrat. Three brothers behind me left town, went to Europe, College, one brother went back to town has a small business, he is a republican. The other two live here in Southern California…both democrats. What changed four of us? I think it is the world, getting out of the small town, realizing there are really crappy people in the world. Realizing not everyone gets the same opportunities in life. Realizing we need government to step in and help the little people out…cuz the big people are screwing them. Not everyone treats their employees fair, not everyone is treated the same. Living in a big city now, I can go from one end of town to the other and see a vast difference in public schools. Some schools have teachers that are just there to babysit, other schools have teachers that want to teach the kids. Not the same opportunity for everyone.
I know there are plenty of issues that cover both parties and I can honestly say I disagree with just about every republican issue. I have seen desperate people who have lost their jobs, people who need healthcare, people that got suckered into fucked up loans and lost their house. These people were not given the same opportunities in life. I think it is very patriotic to help out my fellow Americans. Which means it would be patriotic to pay taxes.
Is my reasoning far off? If you notice where the blue states are…they are surrounded by big cities. People who have seen what I have seen…Maybe?? There are still republicans in big cities…it is just a majority of big cities are filled with Democrats.

Hey Sarah Palin.
This video sums it up. I love that McInsane picked this freaky creep of a woman. The polls show americans are smarter than McSlain's camp thought they were. Still we have the whole month of October to get through. Go Obama!
